L'ultima corsa su strada del 2016 della LAMPRE-MERIDA sarà il Tour of Hainan, gara a tappe cinese che scatterà il 22 ottobre e terminerà il 30 ottobre.
Per la formazione blu-fucsia-verde si tratterà della terza partecipazione alla competizione asiatica: nelle precedenti edizioni, le vittorie di tappa targate LAMPRE-MERIDA sono state sei, oltre al successo nella classifica generale di Modolo nel 2016.
Il direttore sportivo Simone Pedrazzini guiderà sette corridori: Mario Costa, Roberto Ferrari, Matej Mohoric, Prezemyslaw Niemiec, Xu Gang, Federico Zurlo e lo stagista Oliviero Troia.
Lo staff operativo a supporto della squadra sarà composto dal medico di squadra Dottor Guardascione, dai massaggiatori Gallivanone e Lima, dai meccanici Baron e Pengo e dall'addetto stampa Zhao Haoyang.
Matej Mohoric e Federico Zurlo hanno entrambi colto proprio in Asia, il loro primo successo da professionista: lo sloveno ha vinto il Cyclothon Criterium Hong Kong, mentre l'italiano ha conquistato una tappa al Tour of Qinghai Lake.
Niemiec potrà far valere le sue caratteristiche da scalatore nella 6^ tappa (Changjian-Wuzhishan, con scollinamento di una salita di 1^categoria a 11 km dal traguardo) e nella 8^frazione (Sanya-Qiongzhong, con 4 Gpm).
Mario Costa e Oliviero Troia saranno i jolly di una selezione che vedrà in Xu Gang un atleta motivato dal correre in patria e in Roberto Ferrari l'uomo veloce.
The last road race for LAMPRE-MERIDA in 2016 season will be the Tour of Hainan, which will take place from 22nd October to 30th October.
The blue-fuchsia-green team will participate in the Chinese race for the third time: in the past editions, LAMPRE-MERIDA collected six stage victories and the success in the overall classification of Modolo in 2016.
Sports director Pedrazzini will direct seven cyclists: Mario Costa, Roberto Ferrari, Matej Mohoric, Prezemyslaw Niemiec, Xu Gang, Federico Zurlo and the trainee Oliviero Troia.
In the operative staff there will be physician Dr Beltemacchi, the masseurs Gallivanone and Lima, the mechanics Baron and Pengo and the press officier Zhao Haoyang.
Matej Mohoric and Federico Zurlo both obtained their first successes as pro riders in Asia: the Slovenian rider won the Cyclothon Criterium Hong Kong, the Italian athlete obtained one stage success in the Tour of Qinghai Lake.
Niemiec will exploit his skills as climber in the 6th stage (Changjian-Wuzhishan, summit of a 1st category climb at 11 km to the arrival) and te 8th stage (Sanya-Qiongzhong, four categorized climbs).
Mario Costa and Oliviero Troia will be the all around cyclist which will be fundamental for the team, in addition to the highly-motivated Chinese rider Xu Gang and the sprinter Roberto Ferrari.
