DI SANTE – PARRINELLO, DOPPIA SODDISFAZIONE NELLA GARA DI CASA PER IL GM EUROPA OVINI
Oltre 150 km di fuga per l’abruzzese e top 10 al traguardo per il siciliano: la squadra #blackandgreen corre da protagonista al Trofeo Matteotti

Una grande prestazione di squadra per il GM Europa Ovini al “mondiale di casa”, il Trofeo Matteotti, che si è disputato come di consueto sulle strade di Pescara e provincia. La formazione del presidente Gabriele Marchesani ha la propria sede a pochi chilometri di distanza dal circuito del Trofeo Matteotti, così come la sede del main sponsor Europa Ovini. Sono inoltre tanti gli sponsor che hanno sede in Abruzzo, regione alla quale la squadra è sempre stata fortemente legata. Sono tutte motivazioni che rendono il Matteotti una corsa a dir poco unica per la formazione #blackandgreen.
Subito dopo il via ufficiale, Antonio Di Sante è riuscito a portare via una fuga con altri 3 corridori. Per il portacolori abruzzese, residente a Roseto degli Abruzzi, andare in fuga nella gara di casa è stata un’emozione speciale; la sua azione è nata insieme ad Andreas Graf (Hrinkow Advarics Cycleang), Alexey Rybalkin (Gazprom Rusvelo) e Niccolò Pacinotti (Bardiani CSF). Il vantaggio massimo da loro accumulato è stato superiore ai 5 minuti. Durante la fuga, Di Sante è transitato anche in prima posizione sul Gran Premio della Montagna di giornata, portando così a casa un premio messo in palio dal Trofeo Matteotti grazie al supporto dell’azienda Europa Ovini.
Nel finale, Di Sante è rimasto da solo in testa con Rybalkin ed è stato ripreso dopo oltre 150 km di fuga. “E’ stata una bellissima emozione per me andare in fuga nella gara di casa – spiega l’abruzzese Di Sante – è stato bellissimo sentire il tifo delle persone che mi conoscono e di tutto il pubblico presente sulle strade. Il Matteotti è la corsa che ho sognato fin da quando ero bambino e averla onorata in questa maniera mi riempie di orgoglio”.

Nel finale la squadra ha cercato prima di portare via una fuga con Marco Tizza, molto attivo nelle fasi calde della corsa. Quando si è capito che la gara si sarebbe chiusa con una volata, il GM Europa Ovini ha lavorato per permettere ad Antonino Parrinello di esprimersi al meglio. Il corridore siciliano è rimasto al vento un po’ troppo presto, ma ha chiuso con una bella settima posizione. Nei primi 20 al traguardo, per la squadra #blackandgreen, troviamo anche Adriano Brogi, 12/o, e Marco Tizza, 18/o.
“Ho avuto delle ottime sensazioni in corsa e ho dato il massimo fino alla fine – spiega Parrinello dopo l’arrivo – purtroppo sono rimasto al vento ai 300 metri e ho perso qualcosa nella volata; un peccato, perché sentivo che avrei potuto agguantare un podio con la gamba che avevo. Non sono uno specialista delle volate, ma ho affrontato questo Matteotti con grande motivazione. Era la gara di casa per la mia squadra e ho cercato di onorare la nostra maglia fino alla fine”.
Molto soddisfatto il presidente della squadra, Gabriele Marchesani: “Voglio fare i complimenti a tutti i ragazzi perché ho visto una grande squadra lavorare compatta in tutte le fasi della corsa, prima con la fuga di Di Sante, corridore abruzzese, e poi con Parrinello, che ha fatto valere la propria esperienza. Abbiamo onorato ancora una volta la gara di casa e di questo non possiamo che essere soddisfatti. Ora ci aspetta un lungo finale di stagione, che inizierà con il Giro del Portogallo, che inizierà il 4 agosto”.

A great team performance for GM Europa Ovini at the “home world”, the Trofeo Matteotti, who played as usual on the streets of Pescara and the province. The formation of owner Gabriele Marchesani has its headquarters a few kilometers away from the Trofeo Matteotti circuit, as well as the headquarters of the main sponsor Europa Ovini. There are also many sponsors based in Abruzzo, a region to which the team has always been strongly linked. They are all motives that make Matteotti a little uncommon race for the #blackandgreen training.
Immediately after the official start, Antonio Di Sante managed to take an escape with another 3 riders. In the final, Di Sante was alone in the lead with Rybalkin and was resumed after 155 km of escape. “It was a great emotion for me to run away in the home race – explains Di Sante – it was great to feel the cheerfulness of the people who know me and all the audience on the streets. Matteotti has always been the race I have dreamed since I was a child and have honored it in this way, and it fills me with pride. ”
In the final, the team sought to take an escape with Marco Tizza, very active in the hot stages of the race. When it was realized that the race was closed with a fly, GM Europa Ovini worked to allow Antonino Parrinello to express himself to the best. The Sicilian rider stayed in the wind a little too soon, but ended up in a seventh position. In the first 20 at the finish, for the #blackandgreen team, we also find Adriano Brogi, 12nd, and Marco Tizza, 18th.
“I’ve had great racing sensations and I’ve been able to do the best to the end – says Parrinello after the finish line – unfortunately I stayed in the wind at 300 meters and lost something in the volley; A shame, because I felt I could grab a podium with my leg. I’m not a flyer specialist, but I’ve met this Matteotti with great motivation. It was the home race for my team and I tried to honor our shirt until the end. ”
