Bagno di folla per la LAMPRE-MERIDA alle prime due uscite agonistiche in terra nipponica, ovvero il Criterium di Sakai e cronoprologo del Giro del Giappone.
Giunti nel Paese del Sol Levante nella giornata di venerdì, i cinque atleti (Zurlo ha dovuto rinunciare alla trasferta per un attacco febbrile) della formazione diretta dal tecnico Vicino hanno partecipato sabato a due appuntamenti organizzati dagli sponsor Champion System e Merida, oltre alla conferenza stampa ufficiale (Arashiro e Cimolai), per poi concentrarsi oggi sulla corsa.
E' stato enorme l'affetto tributato dagli appassionati nipponici alla LAMPRE-MERIDA e all'idolo locale Yukiya Arashiro, atleta capace di superare un grave infortunio alla gamba e a farsi trovare pronto al via della gara a tappe giapponese (in photo, Haoyang, Arashiro al centro dell'interesse dei media).
Nella mattinata orientale, si è corso il consueto antipasto agonistico del Criterium di Sakai, breve gara adatta ai velocisti nella quale lo sloveno blu-fucsia-verde Marko Kump ha tagliato il traguardo in 4^posizione, preceduto dal vincitore Aberasturi, da Giacoppo (2°) e da Marini (3°).
Il Giro del Giappone ha invece preso il via nel pomeriggio con una cronometro sulla corta distanza dei 2650 metri.
Tutti i corridori della LAMPRE-MERIDA hanno tenuto sotto i 20" il divario dalla prestazione vincente, ovvero quella di Giacoppo, capace di fermare il cronometro sui 3'19".
Il miglior tempo per la formazione diretta da Vicino è stato quello di Chun Kai Feng, 3'27", solo 8" superiore alla miglior prestazione.
La corsa nipponica proseguirà con la tappa Kyoto-Kyoto, che verrà disputata su un circuito da percorrere 6 volte (più un tratto in linea di 4,2 km) per una distanza totale di 105 km.

Warm welcome for LAMPRE-MERIDA in the first day of race in Japan with the Criterium of Sakai and the first stage of the Tour of Japan.
The blue-fuchsia-green riders (5 athletes, due to the illness which stopped Zurlo) reached Osaka on Friday and they lived an intense Saturday, taking part to two very interesting promotional events which were organized by the team's sponsors Champion System and Merida and partecipating to the official press conference (Arashiro and Cimolai).
Fans and reporters tributed large attention to LAMPRE-MERIDA and especially to Yukiya Arashiro, who honored the appointment by recovering in time from a bad injury (broken leg).
The Japanese rider is a real cycling legen in his country and the attention from the media is really impressive, as the picture (photo Haoyang) shows.
In the morning, the usual foretaste of the Criterium of Sakai took place and Kump was 4th in the final sprint, which was won by Aberasturi on Giacoppo and Marini.
In the afternoon, the Tour of Jaopan started with a short time trial prologue (2650 meters), all the LAMPRE-MERIDA's cyclists could limit within the 20" the gap from the winning performance of Giacoppo.
The best time for the team directed by Vicino is the one of Chun Kai Feng, who stopped the clock on 3'27", 8" more than the winning performance.
The first stage of the Japanese race will be the Kyoto-Kyoto, six laps of a circuit plus a sector of 4,2 km for a total distance of 105 km.
