Nella tappa regina del Criterium del Delfinato, la 6^frazione con partenza da La Rochette e arrivo in salita a Méribel (141 km), la coppia africana della LAMPRE-MERIDA composta da Meintjes e Grmay ha espresso una classe regale.
I corridori hanno affrontato ben 4 Gpm prima dell'ascesa finale di 1^ categoria, scalando nell'ordine il Col de la Champ Laurent (1^categoria, scollinamento dopo 17 km di corsa), il Col du Grand Cucheron (2^categoria, 24 km), il Col de la Madeleine (hors categorie, 70 km) e la Montee des Frasses (1^categoria, 113 km).
Ancora una volta, Tsgabu Grmay è stato tra i primi corridori ad animare la corsa, fuoriuscendo dal plotone assieme ad altri 24 atleti dopo 12 km dal via.
La fuga, allargatasi poi a 27 elementi, ha raggiunto un vantaggio massimo di 3' prima di affrontare il Col de la Madeleine: il drappello dei battistrada ha iniziato a sgretolarsi, mentre dal gruppo un attacco di Contador, Bardet e Aru ha rimescolato la situazione.
Grmay è transitato 5° in cima alla rinomata salita, perdendo poi contatta dalla testa della corsa a 3 km dalla vetta della penultima salita, la Montee des Frasses.
A condurre la gara sull'ascesa finale sono rimasti i due transalpini Bardet e Pinot (vittoria di quest'ultimo), mentre un ottimo Meintjes ha mantenuto con classe i colori blu-fucsia-verdi nel gruppo della maglia giallo-blu di Froome, comprendente tutti gli uomini di classifica.
Il talento sudafricano ha mostrato una grande costanza, mantenendo senza problemi il passo del drappello che, chilometro dopo chilometro, si assottigliava.
Nell'ultimo chilometro, un allungo di Daniel Martin faceva esplodere il gruppetto: Froome seguiva l'irlandese, mentre Meintjes si portava sulla ruota di Contador, riuscendolo a superare sul traguardo (foto Bettini) e andando a cogliere il 5° posto, a 1'15" dal vincitore.
Con una sola tappa da disputare (la Le Pont-Superdévoluy, 151 km con arrivo in salita) in classifica generale, Meintjes è salito al 9° posto, a 1'35" da Froome.

In the queen stage of the Criterium du Dauphiné, the 6th one with start from La Rochette and summit arrival at Méribel (141 km), LAMPRE-MERIDA's African duo Grmay-Meintjes realized a very interesting performance.
The riders covered 4 categorized climbs before approaching the final ascent to the arrival (1st category): the Col de la Champ Laurent (1st category, summit 17 km in the race), the Col du Grand Cucheron (2nd category, 24 km), the Col de la Madeleine (hors categorie, 70 km) and the Montee des Frasses (1st category, 113 km).
Once again, Tsgabu Grmay was one of the riders who attacked in the early kilometers: the Ethiopian champion escaped from the bunch after 12 km together with other 24 cyclists.
The breakaway, which was reached by other two attackers, had a maximum advantage of 3', however on the Col de la Madeleine some members of the front group were dropped and an attack of Contador, Bardet and Aru from the peloton changed the situation.
Grmay was 5th at the summit of the Gpm of the Col de la Madeleine, but he was dropped on the penultimate climb of the course, the Montee des Frasses.
Two French riders led the race on the final climb and at the arrival Pinot preceded Bardet; behind them, Meintjes was in the leader's group, which was selected kilometer after kilometer.
The South African cyclist set a regular pace which allowed him to be constatly with the top climbers and he had enough energies to react to the attack of Daniel Martin in the last kilometer: Froome followed Martin, few meters behind Meintjes was with Contador and he overtook the Spanish rider (photo Bettini) obtaining the 5th place at 1'15" to the winner.
When there's only one stage left (Le Pont-Superdévoluy, 151 km with summit arrival), Meintjes is 9th in the generall classification, at 1'35" to Froome.
