light of the numerous transfers that have characterised the first
three stages of the 90th edition of the Giro D’Italia,
the ‘AIGCP’(Association Internationnale des Groupes Cyclistes
Professionnels) would like to highlight the logistical difficulties
their teams had upon leaving Sardinia. Some teams only arrived
at their hotels at 3pm. Further difficulties were caused due to
the fact that the ferry transporting the team vehicles and team
equipment was heavily delayed, arriving at the port of Naples
at 5.30pm meaning that the athletes couldn’t take part in their
normal afternoon training session.
The
‘AIGCP’ would like to reiterate that their teams collaborated
fully with RCS, something that lead to a wonderful event fully
respecting the members of the public, even though they had to
organise very complicated transfers for their athletes and staff
in occasion of the presentation of the Giro D’Italia on
Friday, 11th May and for the timed team trial that took place
on the Island of Maddalena the day after.
Having
fully understood the organisers’ requirements and efforts, the
‘AIGCP’ would like to ask that RCS pay more attention to detail
when planning future transfers and that they consider not only
the Organisers’ interests but also the necessities of the Teams
taking part.

il buon 5° posto ottenuto da Napolitano nella volata
di Cagliari, la spedizione della Lampre-Fondital al Giro
d'Italia si è divisa in due gruppi: automezzi e gran parte
del personale si sono imbarcati su un traghetto che gli ha condotti
a Napoli, località dalla quale gli uomini blu-fucsia hanno
poi raggiunto l'hotel di Paestum.
I corridori, accompagnati da tre massaggiatori e il dottor Andreazzoli,
hanno invece pernottato a Cagliari e nella giornata di martedì
si sono involati per Napoli, poi sono giunti a Paestum.
I corridori hanno sostenuto un leggero allenamento di 2 ore.

Obtained
with Napolitano the 5th place in sprint in Cagliari, Lampre-Fondital
team was separated in two groups. The autovehicles and most of
the staff sailed in the night towards Napoli and then reached
the team hotel in Paestum.
In the morning, the cyclists with three masseurs and doctor Andreazzoli
reached Napoli on an airplane and then they arrived in the team
hotel.

Petacchi wins his first stage
Cagliari: 14/05/2007 -
He
did it: Alessandro Petacchi has won his first stage at
the Giro. In Cagliari he was first in the bunch sprint after 181
kilometers, followed by Robert Förster (Gerolsteiner) and
Maximiliano Richeze (Ceramica Panaria).
„Finally.
This win means very much to me. I’m so happy that it worked out,“
the MILRAM-sprinter said in the finish, after he successfully
finished a long spurt. „Thanks to my team, they did a great job
again. I’m just happy that I could perfectly complete their work.
I waited so long for this moment,“ Petacchi, who cried tears of
joy in the finish, continued.
On
the third stage, which led over hilly terrain again, Team MILRAM
changed its tactics on the last meters. Instead of forming the
usual train the team only kept the field together in the finale,
leaving the sprint preparations to the others. Alessandro Petacchi
was lurking on the home stretch, starting from position four about
250 meters to the finish. Nobody could counter Petacchi who irresisibly
rushed towoards the longed for stage win, relegating Robert Förster
and Maximiliano Richeze to the next ranks. Robbie McEwen, who
won the second stage, finished fourth. With his stage win the
MILRAM-pro took over the best sprinter’s violet jersey.
Once
again, five riders used the stage for a long escape. Giovanni
Visconti (Quick Step) and Mikhail Ignatiev (Tinkoff) and three
other riders broke away and established a lead of more than six
minutes. Visconti and Ignatiev, who remained in the lead for a
long time, were caught four kilometers to the finish.
In
the overall classification Enrico Gasparotto (Liquigas) recaptured
the pink jersey from his team-mate Danilo Di Luca and therefore
will spend the first rest day as the leader of the Giro d’Italia.

la cavalcata del team Liquigas al Giro d’Italia. Al termine della
terza tappa, 181 chilometri da Barumini a Cagliari, la maglia
rosa torna sui propri passi e si trasferisce dalle spalle di Danilo
Di Luca al giovane Enrico Gasparotto. Dopo il guizzo
che sabato gli è valso la cronosquadre di inizio Giro,
Gasparotto si piazza ottavo nella volata odierna vinta da Petacchi
e recupera la testa della classifica generale, che mantiene nelle
prime posizioni sei uomini Liquigas: dietro Gasparotto, nell’ordine
Di Luca, Noè, Pellizotti, Nibali e Wegelius.
«Il
ricordo della Sardegna rimarrà per me indelebile - racconta
il giovane corridore della Liquigas. Questa seconda maglia rosa
mi rende persino più felice rispetto a quella dell’altro
giorno - continua Gasparotto. In quel caso, infatti, il sapore
della vittoria è stato reso un pò amaro da qualche
polemica di troppo che, alla luce dei miei buoni rapporti con
Danilo, credo non avesse fondamento. Anche la strategia adottata
oggi dalla squadra conferma che non c’è alcun astio tra
me e Danilo. Oggi la squadra ha avuto un ruolo determinante nel
far rientrare la lunga fuga di Ignatiev e Visconti: è solo
grazie all’impegno dei miei compagni che ho potuto assaporare
la gioia di indossare per la seconda volta la maglia di leader».
Dopo
la giornata di riposo di domani, la marcia del team Liquigas riprenderà
mercoledì 16 maggio da Salerno. Obiettivo: la scalata di
Montevergine di Mercogliano, dove Danilo Di Luca si impose nel
2001.

hätte sich Robert Förster über einen weiteren
Tageserfolg beim Giro d'Italia freuen können. Der
Sprinter aus dem Team Gerolsteiner kam am Montag auf der dritten
Etappe der 90. Italien-Rundfahrt im Sprintfinale Alessandro Petacchi
(Italien/Milram) immer näher, ehe der Italiener nach den
180 Kilometern von Barumini nach Cagliari doch noch als Erster
den Zielstrich passierte. Robert "Frösi" Förster,
der im vergangenen Jahr die Schlussetappe des Giro gewonnen hatte,
sicherte sich dank seines fulminanten Antritts entlang der Bande
schließlich den starken zweiten Platz. Dennoch hatte der
Markkleeberger nach der ersten Podiumsplatzierung der Gerolsteiner
beim Giro 2007 ein wenig gemischte Gefühle.
"Schöner Mist. Schön, weil ich nun weiß,
dass ich hier auch in diesem Jahr eine Etappe gewinnen kann. Mist,
weil ich das heute knapp verpasst habe", meinte Förster
nach dem Sprintfinale. Letztlich überwog beim 29-Jährigen
aber die Freude über sein gutes Ergebnis. "Ich bin happy",
sagte er. Das war im Übrigen auch sein Sportlicher Leiter
nach dem ersten Spitzenergebnis seiner Rennfahrer bei der ersten
dreiwöchigen Rundfahrt im ProTour-Kalender. "Wir haben
versucht Frösi bei seinen Sprinterkonkurrenten zu halten.
Das ist uns gelungen. Lob für ihn und die Mannschaft, die
stark gearbeitet hat", erklärte Christian Henn und ergänzte:
"Das war schon beeindruckend und mutig, wie Frösi an
der Bande durchgezogen hat. Die Enge hat ihn nicht gebremst."
Gute Nachrichten hatte Henn auch von Tim Klinger. Der Gerolsteiner-Youngster
war am Sonntag nach einem Sturz am Ellbogen genäht worden,
die Verletzung hielt ihn am Montag aber nicht auf. "Er ist
gut durchgekommen. Der Ruhetag am Dienstag kommt ihm sicherlich
auch entgegen. Daher bin ich zuversichtlich, dass es bei ihm weiter
bergauf geht", sagte der Sportliche Leiter.

in prossimità dell’ultimo chilometro della terza frazione
del Giro d’Itali (Barumini-Calgiari). In seguito a un contatto,
il capitano della Lampre-Fondital ha perso il controllo della
bicicletta, senza però riportare alcuna conseguenza nella
scivolata al suolo.

contact, Lampre-Fondital’s captain lost the control of the bike,

Dopo il successo nella cronosquadre d’apertura
del Giro d’Italia, il team verde-blu mantiene la testa della classifica
generale anche al termine della seconda tappa.
Le vittorie stagionali salgono a quota 15

Il team Liquigas ha impresso la propria firma sulle fasi iniziali
del Giro d’Italia. Gli uomini di Roberto Amadio
hanno interpretato al meglio la cronosquadre che sabato 12 maggio
ha dato il via alla novantesima edizione della corsa rosa. A tagliare
per primo il traguardo della Maddalena, alla testa del serpentone
verde-blu, l’ex Tricolore Enrico Gasparotto, che con un colpo
di mano ha conquistato una inaspettata maglia rosa. Capitan Di
Luca - che vive un ottimo stato di forma, come testimonia il suo
successo alla Liegi - non ha dovuto comunque attendere troppo
per vedere concretizzate le proprie ambizioni in rosa. E’ lui,
a sole ventiquattro ore, la nuova maglia rosa al termine della
seconda tappa, la Tempio Pausania - Bosa, vinta dal veterano McEwen.
La
classifica generale - che alle spalle di Di Luca annovera ben
cinque uomini Liquigas forti delle prime due performance (nell’ordine
Gasparotto, Noè, Pellizotti, Nibali e Wegelius) - conferma
l’ottimo momento che sta attraversando la squadra. Dopo le prime
due frazioni del Giro, infatti, i successi stagionali della Liquigas
raggiungono quota 15. «I risultati ottenuti sono frutto
di un ottimo lavoro di squadra - commenta il direttore sportivo
Stefano Zanatta. Vincere una cronosquadre è sinonimo di
grande sincronismo ed affiatamento, fattori di cui stiamo da tempo
dando prova».
Senza
nascondere le proprie ambizioni, Danilo Di Luca si dice «sorpreso
per questa maglia rosa, che è arrivata quasi inaspettata.
Ieri i piani della squadra - continua il capitano - prevedevano
di favorire Pellizotti. Tuttavia, la caduta che a poche centinaia
di metri dall’arrivo di Bosa ha coinvolto - tra gli altri - proprio
Pellizotti e Nibali, ha scombinato i programmi ed ha fatto in
modo che mi ritrovassi davanti con i migliori. Ora farò
del mio meglio per onorare la maglia di leader».
Da
parte sua, Enrico Gasparotto - il migliore tra i giovani in gara
- vive un momento di grande soddisfazione: «Un tale esordio
nella prima tappa del mio primo Giro d’Italia era inimmaginabile:
indossare subito la maglia rosa, poi la maglia bianca, è
un’emozione senza pari. Ora, ancor più motivato rispetto
a prima, intendo mettermi a completa disposizione dei miei capitani».
