GIROROSA 2015 - Giro d'Italia professionistico femminile

dal 3 al 12 luglio 2015

MILANO, 25 GIUGNO 2015

MILAN, 25th JUNE 2015

SLOVENIA IS READY TO WELCOME THE BIG START OF THE 26TH GIRO ROSA

Ljubljana and Kamnik, the two Slovenian Host Cities of the Giro Rosa 2015, are coloured of pink. The walls of the buildings and the city roads are covered of fliers and banners that welcome the most important race in women cycling worldwide. The race will stop here for three days, from Thursday the 2nd to Saturday the 4th July: the Team Presentation, the Prologue and the first stage have been programmed on these dates, and a huge group of Slovenian volunteers, policemen (about 800 people) will give their own help with the security. The Team Presentation, programmed in the central square Kongresni Trg of Ljubljana on Thursday from 8 PM, will be very suggestive and particular: The athletes will present themselves wearing the own team jersey and with their bikes on the huge stage set up for the event and equipped with an important scenography which has been prepared by a local artist. The start and the finish of the individual prologue (2 kms long) of the evening after will take place here too and the cyclists will ride through the Slovenska Cesta Street: normally just for pedestrians, this street will be used for the first time in a sport event, especially in a world leading race ike the Giro Rosa.
The race will continue on Saturday, 4th July: the first stage will start in Kamnik to finish again in Ljubljana to say goodbay to all the Slovenian crowd. It looks like a stage for sprinters but the route is very curvy and has great landscapes and panoramas which go from the City to the Countryside and the Alps. The intermediate sprint of Skofja Loka and the Climb of Lucine look very suggestive, and the descend from the top of the climb to Ljubljana is very technical. The last kilometers are flat until the finish line in front of BTC City, the commercial and economical pole of Ljubljana which gives the name to the most important Slovenian Women Cycling Team, directed by the Team Manager Gorazd Penko. The team has been the protagonist today during the stage recognitions, realized with the cyclists Polona Batagelj and Ursa Pintar.
