Abu Dhabi WT race hosts Gazprom – RusVelo
Gazprom – RusVelo will compete in Abu Dhabi Tour, a World Tour stage race, which will be held in United Arab Emirates on 23rd - 26th of February. The race rapidly gained popularity from it's foundation in 2015.

The route remains similar to the previous year edition. However, organizers enlarged the distance to 672 kilometers, due to the upgraded UCI World Tour status. The city of Madinat Zayed will host the first stage of the race. On the second day teams move on to the capital of UAE – Abu Dhabi. Third stage will challenge riders with the Jebel Hafeet climb and then ADT will end up on the Yas Marina Circuit, which hosts the famous Formula One races.

The only summit finish of the race on Jebel Hafeet will be crucial to define the winners of general standings. The distance of closing climb is 10.8 kilometers with an average gradient 6.6%. The other stages culminate in sprint finishes.

Gazprom – RusVelo relies on the sprinter Alexander Porsev on Abu Dhabi Tour. Who shared his expectations: «My physical condition after the first races is quite good. There were both kind of recovery and very intensive days. Abu Dhabi Tour is known for tough climate, fortunately acclimatization has never been an issue for me. The desert stages have its unique wind challenges, which make the race more dynamic and unpredictable. I will have the opportunity to show my best result on the finishing kilometers due to the support of my teammates. I hope it works out».

Paolo Rosola, Sports Director of Gazprom – RusVelo shared his opinion about Abu Dhabi Tour: «The result in Abu Dhabi strongly depends on the great teamwork: the route includes one steep climb, several sprint finishes and desert stage on which teams have to deal with the side winds. On the sprint stages team’s effort would be for Alexander Porsev, he has it all to succeed. We have a very strong line-up and we are ready for the competition».

Gazprom – RusVelo line-up: Pavel Brutt, Ivan Savitskiy, Sergey Firsanov, Ivan Rovny, Artur Ershov, Alexander Porsev, Nikolay Trusov, Kirill Sveshnikov.
