SITTARD – First there was gold in the World Championships team time trial, then Ellen van Dijk’s silver medal in the individual time trial, and on Saturday there was yet another successful performance to be celebrated for the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team. Amalie Dideriksen crowned an already successful week of the international women's cycling team during the 2016 Cycling World Championships in Qatar by winning gold in the road race. The international rental company Boels Rental, one of the two main sponsors of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team, is very proud of the team's third medal.

Amalie Dideriksen won the final sprint among a group of favourites and achieved her first Elite women's world title. At just 20 years old, Dideriksen had already been Junior World Champion twice in 2013 and 2014. In the mass sprint, Dideriksen crossed the line just ahead of another favourite, Kirsten Wild. Last year's winner, Lizzie Deignan, was unable to prolong her title and came in fourth, and warmly congratulated her teammate Amalie immediately after the finish.

Drive
Yvo Hoppers, Corporate Marketing & Communications Manager at Boels Rental, comments: “Amalie Dideriksen has an unrelenting drive to win, as do her team mates of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team. This attitude, which we hold in very high regard here at Boels, is an inspirational and indispensable character trait in pro cycling. With this result, Amalie has shown that she is of great value to the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team. Amalie's world title also proves the strength of our team in all areas of cycling, taking the team to an even higher level.”

Challenge
This gold medal and the gold and silver medals won earlier this week in the team time trial and individual time trial respectively, added to a long series of impressive victories this season. A season in which the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team presented itself as one of the strongest and most dominant teams on the international women's cycling circuit. Yvo Hoppers: “Wanting to be the best and giving everything to achieve this is a drive that appeals greatly to us as a rental company. We are very proud of the accomplishments of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team during the World Cycling Championships in Qatar, partly because the weather conditions posed an extra challenge for all the riders. Taking on challenges, however, is typical of Boels. The fact that our riders rose to this challenge and braved the extremely high temperatures makes us even more proud.”
